Intraoral Camera

When visiting the dentist, do you often feel left in the dark as your dentist peers into your mouth and talks to the assistants? At our Rock Hill dental office, we enjoy helping each patient feel like a fully informed partner in their oral healthcare journey. That’s why intraoral cameras are utilized often in order to give you a closer look at your own unique smile. The camera-tipped wand is comfortably positioned in the mouth so that it can start transmitting high-resolution images to a monitor in the room, which our team will use as a visual aid to more clearly explain damaged areas, possible treatment options, and even oral hygiene techniques.

Digital Dental X-Rays

X-rays have been an essential part of quality dental care for many years now, revealing problems or damage that may not be visible yet on the surface of smiles. At Coombs, Ross & Sourlis Family Dentistry, we’re now using digital radiography as a modern alternative to film. Instead of having to spend hours in a darkroom, these detailed images are available for viewing in only seconds, and the radiation they produce is up to 80% less than what our patients would be exposed to with the old method.

Digital Impression System

Many of our patients surely remember the days of having their mouths stuffed with “goopy” impression materials that tended to induce gagging. This traditional process, while necessary, was uncomfortable and often inaccurate as well, requiring time-consuming retakes. Thankfully, our dental office now captures all-digital impressions with the help of CEREC! This process doesn’t require any unpleasant contact, and the finished product will be very accurate for creating the perfect restoration.

Soft Tissue Laser Dentistry

Lasers are becoming more and more prominent in dental treatment – and for good reason! Here in Rock Hill, our doctors are proud to use BIOLASE technology to great effect when treating gum tissue. Unlike scalpels, our soft tissue laser is precise and comfortable; in fact, its sterilizing quality greatly reduces post-operative symptoms like bleeding and swelling. Our patients can also look forward to an accelerated healing process following treatment.

Cavity Detection System

Tooth decay is a gradual process that often isn’t even noticeable to a patient until it has created a full-blown cavity. As part of our emphasis on prevention, our dental team provides diagnostic care with DIAGNOdent in order to catch these areas as early as possible. This technology translates the health of your teeth to wavelengths, and a print-out will show us any significant variations in the baseline that need attention. In fact, DIAGNOdent can locate tiny cavities along the cracks of teeth that are completely invisible to the naked eye.
