Dr. Paul Coombs

For more than 36 years now, Dr. Coombs has dedicated his days to doing what he loves most: helping people achieve a healthy smile. His interest in the field of dentistry was initially piqued by his father, who was a dentist. Seeing firsthand how art and science were blended to help others truly smile was enough to inspire him to pursue the same career path!

After graduating from Clemson University, Dr. Coombs chose to attend the Medical University of South Carolina for his dental degree. He then went on to be ranked first in his class at the Naval Hospital in San Diego. After several years of duty on the USS Samuel Gompers in Alameda, CA, he chose to open his own dental office. Today, he has the honor of being a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and the International College of Dentistry. If that wasn’t impressive enough, he’s also completed advanced training with world-renowned institutions, like SPEAR Education and the Dawson Academy.

Outside the office, you’ll most likely find Dr. Coombs spending time with his wife, their two children, and their two grandchildren. For hobbies, he enjoys traveling, playing golf, and competitive running. Plus, he dedicates some of his time to participating in professional organizations, like the American Dental Association and the South Carolina Dental Association.

Dr. William Ross

Dr. Ross’ dentist and orthodontist growing up inspired him to pursue a career in dentistry! He ultimately chose to attend the Medical University of South Carolina. From there, he obtained his dental doctorate and completed a two-year general practice residency. Now, he has more than 33 years of experience helping patients achieve healthier, happier smiles!

Dedicated to providing his patients with the absolute best care, Dr. Ross is committed to continuing education. Today, he is an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the South Carolina Dental Association, and several others. Plus, he is a graduate of the prestigious Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies and a recipient of the Fellowship award from the Academy of General Dentistry. Both of these accomplishments are a testament to his talent, dedication, and commitment.

Dr. Ross and his wife, Myra, have two children, two dogs, a cat, and a fish. He loves using his free time to practice photography, scuba dive, travel, and, of course, be with family. Here’s something you may not know about him: he has his pilot’s license!

Dr. George Sourlis

While completing a two-week internship with a prosthodontist in high school, Dr. Sourlis saw several amazing transformations first-hand. That’s what inspired him to become a dentist near Newport! After studying at the Medical University of South Carolina, he graduated from the James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine. Throughout his career, he’s completed multiple advanced training courses and maintained active memberships with the American Dental Association, the South Carolina Dental Association, and several others.

In his free time, Dr. Sourlis enjoys being active. From golfing and hiking to sailing, he loves doing pretty much anything outdoors

I Need a Checkup & Cleaning

Your biannual visits to our office are broken up into two segments: the checkup and the cleaning. While the cleaning ensures we effectively remove stubborn plaque and clean the hard-to-reach areas of your mouth, the exam allows one of our talented Newport dentists to screen for gum disease, tooth decay, oral cancer, and other oral health concerns. If it’s been more than six months since your last visit, then we encourage you to get in touch with us today so we can schedule a time for you to come in!

I Want to Enhance My Smile

Want to fix a chipped or stained tooth? Want to completely transform your smile with beautiful veneers? Fortunately, we offer a wide range of cosmetic dental solutions for patients in and around Newport! The process will begin with an initial consultation so we can learn all about your concerns and smile goals. Once we’ve conducted an oral exam, we will use this information to determine what your treatment options are and get to work on making your dream smile a reality.

I Have a Cavity or Broken Tooth

With roughly 90% of Americans having at least one cavity by their 21 st birthday, tooth decay continues to be prevalent. The good news is that cavities, cracks, and other damage can seamlessly be addressed at our office – we use materials that are as lifelike as they are durable! Perhaps even more impressive, we have same-day dental crowns that condense a 4+ weeklong process into a single visit.

I am Missing One or More Teeth

Are you one of the 178 million people in the United States that are missing teeth? The gaps in your smile don’t have to be permanent. On the contrary, our talented team can rebuild your bite, smile, and confidence with lifelike tooth-replacement options like dental implants near Newport. In addition to being custom-made for each patient, this solution is easy to care for, incredibly versatile, and can last for 25+ years with proper care.

I am Nervous/Scared of the Dentist

While dental-related anxiety isn’t harmful on its own, it can be if it causes you to avoid getting the essential treatments you need. The good news is that patients who struggle with nerves surrounding the dental office can find the relief they need with sedation dentistry! We’re proud to offer multiple types to our Newport patients, including nitrous oxide and oral conscious sedation, which will ensure that you stay calm and comfortable throughout the entire treatment process.

I Am in Pain & Need Help

Dental injuries can be scary, so it’s helpful to have an experienced Newport emergency dentist in your corner. Our team would love to be yours! We have same-day appointments available as well as the latest technology to ensure your pain-free smile is restored as quickly and efficiently as possible.

How We Can Help You Save Money

It’s common for patients to be worried that they will be stuck with a large bill that puts a strain on their wallet at the end of their treatment. Rest assured, our team offers several financial solutions to help prevent that from happening to you. We’d be more than happy to review all of these options at your appointment. Or, you can learn more about them in the meantime by clicking on the below icons!

We Welcome Dental Insurance

We understand how important it is for our insured patients to use their available benefits, which is why we do everything we can to make this process seamless, stress-free, and easy. In addition to answering any questions you have upfront, we can handle the paperwork on your behalf and utilize your coverage to the fullest. As a result, you can focus on getting the dental care you need instead of worrying about the cost of your treatment.

We Happily Accept Flexible Financing

If paying for the entire cost of your treatment upfront would put a pinch on your wallet, don’t worry – you don’t have to. Instead, you can opt for flexible financing with CareCredit. They offer several payment plans, all of which allow you to break down your payments into manageable chunks. There are even low-to-no-interest options for qualified patients, which makes this financial solution even more beneficial!

We Have an In-House Membership Plan

If you are currently uninsured but would like to still save on the cost of your dental care, then ask our team about our in-house membership plan! We have three different options (an adult membership, a perio membership, and a child membership), which allows you to pick the one that suits the needs of you or a loved one best. One of the best parts of this financial solution is that there isn’t any red tape, like annual maximums or waiting periods for certain treatments.

We Extend Periodic Special Offers

Another way you can save is by taking advantage of our periodic special offers. This includes everything from free second opinions to complimentary consultations and discounts on popular services. If you’d like to learn about our latest offers, then we recommend giving our team a call so we can provide you with the details!

Frequently Asked Questions

As you go through the information above, you'll gain valuable insights into our range of services and how we strive to make dental care accessible for you. If you still have questions, that's perfectly fine! To ensure you find the answers you're looking for with ease, we've addressed some commonly asked questions below.

How Do I Get Emergency Dental Care?

If you're in need of emergency dental care near Newport, the first step is to call our practice immediately. Our team is here to assist you! In life-threatening situations, don't hesitate to dial 911. Please be aware that most hospital ERs and urgent care clinics aren't equipped for dental emergencies. It's highly advisable to reach out to us for specialized care.

We offer same-day appointments to get you out of pain quickly and effectively. Remember, seeking prompt attention not only ensures your immediate well-being, but also helps address underlying dental issues. It’s worth noting that regular visits can prevent future emergencies from occurring.

How Do I Find the Best Place to Get Dental Work Done?

To find the best place for dental work, start by identifying your priorities. Consider factors like insurance acceptance, location, credentials, safety, and operating hours. Next, pinpoint the type of dental care you need—whether it's for children, routine checkups, major restorations, braces, or cosmetic procedures. Different dentists excel in specific areas.

The best way to make an informed decision is by reading patient reviews and exploring doctor and staff bios on the website. You can even browse our custom photos and videos for deeper insights. This process will help you feel confident in your decision to make us your new dental home!

What Is the Best Way to Find a Cosmetic Dentist?

The best way to find a cosmetic dentist is to look for one who has extensive involvement in reputable organizations dedicated to advanced training in cosmetic dentistry. Some of the prominent organizations in the U.S. include the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (AAED), and the Las Vegas Institute. Additionally, many dental schools and other organizations offer excellent continuing education programs in cosmetic dentistry. If a dentist is actively engaged with any of these programs or associations, it's a strong indicator of their expertise in cosmetic dentistry.

What to Do If You Can’t Afford a Dentist?

We get it – cost is a significant factor that can keep you away from our office. Fortunately, you can make the most of your dental insurance if you have it! It's the top money-saving option for dental care.

For those without coverage, there's an alternative. Our practice works with CareCredit to offer financing plans with flexible payment schedules and no interest. This ensures you can manage your oral health while staying within budget. Additionally, you can join our VIP Smile Club and make low monthly payments for your preventive care.
